Don't upgrade. Perform a clean install
This is not only true for Windows, but also for most applications. Upgrading Windows is usually somewhat easier than a clean install (you don't have to reinstall all your apps) but here are a lot more problems with upgraded systems. Upgrades of applications can easily corrupt you Registry, because old Registry keys will not be deleted or not always overwritten. So to play safe, you should uninstalling first. And please don't even think about upgrading over a beta version (don't install beta versions would be even better advice.)
