much to be said about a strange love
isolated and in seclusion
nobody else wants to know about it
well, nobody publicly

freaks to take advantage of the helpless
what happened to this lover
why do they express themselves the way they do

odd lover wears down on my defenses
has me give up that normal, all-american
the pageants and the beauty contests
the cheerleaders and the soriority girls

it's always better on the other side
and the side i'm on was rather boring at the time
the grass wasn't greener
it was just a different color

and it wasn't even grass over that way
but I was in a maze of twists and turns
discombobulated, then the empathy begins

find out where you have so much in common
what you want that you dare not tell anyone
no one quite understands you
nothing like the way this weird lover does

or did because it turned sour
no longer looking at the ceiling
faces of ectasy, no longer looking
at the pillows or the bedpost

lost your sugar for a dry cotton-mouth
pints of ice cream melt in the sink
on a hot, lonely day in august

memories of the best times you'd had
perhaps it was intimate
or perhaps your heart was in places
emotions you'd experience

that you didn't even know were possible
the weird, eccentric lover moves on
to the uninitiated that didn't know anything
about it, and didn't want to know

you return to your paltry life
guess you'll have to make things weird on your own ..
